For 2015 my goal was to stick to a one-in-one-out rule, and though I started out strong, I lost it halfway through the year (oops). Then I read about tidying up and was re-inspired. For 2016 I’m shooting for an approach to minimalism. I’m not saying we’re going to get rid of our furniture and have one chair and call it a day, but I want to feel less cluttered overall.
I have already started with some small changes that have made a big difference: Dealing with mail as it comes in right away, for example, and tossing anything that isn’t important so the mail doesn’t pile up; but I definitely have more work to do. One question I keep asking myself? “If we were packing to move, would I take this with us?” – that will tell you how you really feel about whatever it is you’re looking at!
In the long run, I’m hoping that moving toward having less stuff will help me to be more focused. I have a lot going on all the time (not in a bad way!) and want to make sure I’m dedicating myself 110% to everything I do. I know it’s achievable, but I need to clear out the clutter that sometimes gets in the way.
Cheers to 2016!

I definitely need to de-clutter. You make a good point about taking it with you versus not and how if you wouldn’t, you don’t really need it!

De-cluttering is definitely something that I need to work on to. And just keeping up with chores in general. I tend to get lazy and by the time I get around to it, it’s built up to a lot more work.
