I’ve always loved shoes, so I’ve tried practically every brand, style, heel height… you name it! I own a few more pairs of shoes than just 6, because there is just something about a great pair of shoes, but if I had to pare down my closet to just these 6 pairs listed below, I’d be totally fine (just don’t tell T that!). These are the 6 pairs of shoes that have been necessary, from college to the corporate world. Whether you’re a yoga teacher, a corporate lady like myself, or a stay at home mom, this list works for everyone!
Ballet flats
Ballet flats are the chameleon of shoes: You can wear them with a dress or skinny jeans and they look just as good both ways. I just bought these from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and they are going to be my new go-tos. They have the perfect amount of cushioning, and the tassels are too cute.
Classic pump
You’re going to have an event where you need a classic pump, whether it’s a work party, interview, funeral… Life sometimes just calls for it. These are my favorite budget-friendly pumps, and they come in a ton of different colors. I have them in black for work, nude for the summer months, and I also bought them in silver just because they’re so pretty! If you had to just have one pair of pumps though, a classic black is perfect. (And they’re on sale for under $70!)
Rain boots
I finally splurged on a pair of Hunter boots a few years ago, and they are life-changing. Before my Hunters I had another less expensive brand, and they were only good for rain… but I wear my Hunters year-round, whether it’s in a rain storm or in the snow! (Just add the boot inserts if you’re in colder weather- this is what I do when I wear them to Patriots games!) Serious game changers. These are on sale as part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but these are the ones I have and would definitely recommend!
Dressy sandals
I love my Jack Rogers because they look just as good with shorts as they do with a dress. You could also do a lace up flat, or something more fun like these tasseled flats!
Wear-with-every-dress dress shoe
These in nude or black will go with practically every dress you could wear to a wedding, bridal shower, engagement party, baby shower, etc. If you want something a little different, go for a trendy block-heeled version.
Sneakers
I have my casual sneakers (these and these) and then my workout sneakers (love these), but if I could only have one pair, I’d go with these, which are similar to my Boston-edition sneaks. They’re awesome for going out for a walk, for a run, to wear to a workout class, or even if you’re just out running errands!
Of course, if you live in New England your “must have” list for shoes changes in the wintertime, when #1 through #10 becomes snow boots, warm boots that could pass for dress boots, waterproof boots, basically just boots! But what do you think – did I miss any must-haves? If you had to pare down your shoe closet, what would be your keepers?
