When it comes to choosing the perfect gift for a 6-year-old girl, the options seem as boundless as her imagination can be! Birthdays are such magical moments for children. Since I have a 6 year old, I thought I could offer my suggestions for gifts for a 6 year old girl. A lot of these are great for 6 year old boys too- I am just saying “6 year old girl” because I’m a mom to one!

While this post is geared toward 6 year old girls, many of these gifts can be gender neutral or come in other options. (For example, the unicorn paint kit that we love also comes in a rocket, dragon, rainbow, and other choices if you have a space-loving kid or dragon-loving kid!)
P.S. The majority of 6 year old girls I know adore all things unicorns, rainbows, and fancy things, so that’s what this gift guide for girl gifts centers around.
Craft gifts for 6 year old girls under $25
Loom bracelet kits, friendship bracelet kits, pony beads, Perler beads, and more. I even found a kit to paint your own squishies! Craft gifts are great because they are exciting to get but also are entertaining to create with. Every parent I know loves consumable gifts! I will say that I have a very crafty 6 year old who has art-loving friends. If you know that your 6 year old tends to shy away from crafts, go ahead and skip this section and go down to the next group of gift ideas!

This unicorn painting kit is affordable and comes in other options, too (like a rainbow, dragon, or rocket). We love Paint by Sticker books, which are a great quiet time activity or work for a long car ride or restaurant meal, too. Or pair together groups of craft items for a fun craft kit gift!
For a personalized craft gift, grab an art organizer. This makes a really unique gift not to mention a useful gift if she likes art! You can add as much or as little as you want, so this gift can be really affordable (under $20!). You could include:
- Crayons
- Washable markers
- Construction paper
- Watercolor paints
- Watercolor paper
- Googly eyes
- Pipe cleaners
- Pony beads
- Sidewalk chalk
We do a LOT of sidewalk chalk. There are some really fun options for chalk out there! My personal favorite for the boldest colors are these chalks which come in a variety of colors. The ice cream shaped chalks are very cute. They also come in donut shapes and popsicles!
Imaginative play and dress up under $50
Princesses, fairies, butterflies, firefighter, construction worker, doctor… there are so many options for dress up gifts for girls! For kids who love animals, Calico Critters are a great gift. They’re little animal families with houses, beds, cars, and more that go with them.
For imaginative play, 6 year olds love playing games like “camping” and building tents or forts, so a cozy indoor tent would be a wonderful addition to a 6 year old’s room!
For a 6 year old who likes dress up AND crafts, look at a jewelry making kit or hair gem kit. Hair tinsel is also super popular right now!
I gave my daughter a camera of her own a couple of years ago, and she brings it with us on trips now. I love to download the photos later and see a vacation (or just daily life) through her eyes! It was such a hit that we got one for our son, too.
Even if she doesn’t know the show Unicorn Academy, unicorns are a big deal with the 6 year old crowd where we live. There are a bunch of toys from the show that any 6 year old girl would love!
Building and educational games ($25-50)
STEM gifts are really popular, and there are so many to choose from. We like the magnetic marble run with lots of options for building. Magnet tiles are also a great gift for building and “cause and effect” type of play. They have lots of add on accessories, and multiple kits together will build a massive magnet tile castle. These glitter magnet tiles would be perfect for a 6 year old girl! This “Frozen” inspired set has a lot of tiles for the price.
Like a lot of kids, mine like to examine the bugs they find outdoors. A bug catcher kit would be a cool gift to encourage that exploration and curiosity.
A Yoto audio player could be a perfect gift, too, or additional cards if you know they have one already!
Experience gifts for kids (any budget)
I always love experience gifts for kids birthday gifts! A pass to the local children’s museum, the zoo, aquarium, or even the movies can be a great idea for kids of all ages. And parents will appreciate the gift, too.

What do 6-year-old girls like right now?
Super popular gifts for 2026 and 2026 that any 6 year old girl would love include Furby (or Furby Furblet if your budget is $25 or less), Polly Pocket, LEGO – specifically the LEGO Friends brand – and stuffed animals like Squishmallows or Jellycat (my daughter was obsessed with the croissant purse she saw in Paris!).

Best gifts for travel-loving kids?
My daughter loves LEGO – she collects the sets from places we have been in the past, and then displays them in her room on a shelf. They make cute decor and are a great memory of where we have been!
My kids each have one of their own kid-friendly cameras, another great gift idea and perfect for a kid who travels a lot because they are compact and easy to bring along. I love downloading their pictures to see life from their POV! Or what about an instant-print camera? This is a huge hit in my house!
Best gifts for creative kids?
We recently got a fashion design kit, and my daughter loves coming up with new designs every day.
Sketchbooks and creative markers (like watercolor markers or the “switcheroo” markers, as we call them, are fun additions for a creative kid who loves to draw and might already have markers and colored pencils.
For a 6 year old who likes dress up AND crafts, look at a jewelry making kit or hair gem kit. Hair tinsel is also super popular right now!
