I can’t believe that the fall is already right around the corner! I know a lot of states have already gone back to school, but here in Massachusetts we go back either right before Labor Day or right after. I’m just sitting down to order back to school supplies, so I thought I’d share what I’m stocking up on this year. For this school year I have one in elementary school, one in preschool, and my youngest is starting in a nursery school program.

School name labels
Especially with little kids, it’s so important to label everything. I have purchased labels from a few different companies, and these are my favorite customizable labels. They stay on in the laundry, in shoes, etc. Especially in the winter months when the kids are bringing in snow clothes, I like to have everything labeled so that there’s no confusion at the end of the day.
Lunch boxes and Backpacks
We used these Quince lunch boxes this summer for camp, and the kids really liked them. The zippers are easy to open for their little hands. And I liked that they’re really easy to wipe down to clean! My daughter used one all last year for lunch and it was the perfect size to fit her snack and water bottle. It’s not big enough to fit a Bentgo box and too much other stuff, though.
Bentgo boxes: We already have 3 of these, which should be fine for this year. Last year my nursery schooler didn’t bring a lunch to school, so we’ll see if I need to add more of these during the year! I’m also looking at the slightly larger ones (and stainless steel ones) because last year I felt like my daughter in elementary school needed more space for extra snacks.
I found these stackable snack containers last year and I absolutely love them. You can mix and match the different sized containers. If you only want to send a small snack, you can just use one piece, but if you want to use all three you can do that too. They come in a ton of different character choices.
We have tried SO many different water bottles on the market, and I actually put together a dedicated post about my favorite kids water bottles because I had so many thoughts. Kids water bottles need to be able to withstand a lot of wear and tear, to keep liquids cold (or hot), and especially not leak.
For backpacks this year we went with a couple of really cute backpacks from Quince. So far they’ve been amazing for camp! I know most people do a new backpack for the start of the school year, but it’s been nice to try out the backpacks over the summer to see what works.
Other items
No-tie shoelaces are genius. I ordered these in a few colors, and they make putting on shoes so much faster! They’re elastic and you just put them in the holes where the shoe ties would normally go. Highly recommend these, for younger kids or kids who take too long tying their shoes.
More hair elastics (kid-sized) are always needed, because my girls constantly lose them. I keep a bunch in the downstairs powder room so I can quickly do their hair while they’re having breakfast in the mornings.
