The weekend before last T and I were on the Cape with my family. We decided to charter a sailboat for a couple of hours on Saturday, but the day was super overcast. Even though the clouds never lifted, I was thrilled that the weather held out so we could go!
Would you believe that T and I are both part Italian? He gets so tan in the summertime. I, on the other hand, clearly do not. SPF 30 all day every day over here! (I mean just look at our legs… isn’t that crazy??)
After our sailing trip we went to dinner at Chatham Bars Inn, a place that has a lot of memories from summers as a kid. CBI has the Cape Cod shingles we all love!
If you’ve never been to Cape Cod but find yourself in New England, you have to go!
Hi! We are going to stay in Harwich Port for 4 nights this summer for vacation(during the last week of July). I’ve never been and am looking forward to it! We live in Houston and I really want to pack our family appropriately fashion wise. We don’t want to look like touristy Texans! After reading your blog I am hearing “very casual”. What do you recommend for men and young boys? Let’s say we go out to dinner/drinks at Chatham Bars Inn. What would the men be wearing? Jeans or more like khakis? Polos or button downs? Most of our beach vacations are to places where it’s really hot (think linen pants/shorts and shirts for men) so I’m having trouble envisioning a night time wardrobe. Hi Erin! Cape Cod in general is very casual. “Dressing up” for dinner and drinks at Chatham Bars Inn, for example, might be khakis and a polo or button down for boys and men, a summer dress and sandals for women. I think one of their restaurants requires a collared shirt and no sneakers, but the outside seating and more casual restaurant don’t. My husband’s go-to outfits for dinners at the Cape are J.Crew shorts (he loves these), a button-down with rolled sleeves, and Sperrys. I hope that helps!
