We have had this kitchen helper stool for nearly 3 years, and it’s one of the kid items I always recommend. Oftentimes people will ask me for a recommendation for a gift for “the kid who has everything” – and this is it. Baby, toddler, preschooler- everyone loves this kitchen stool! Both of my kids can fit on it at one time, which they do every Sunday (deemed Pancake Day at our house) and sometimes during the week, too.
Best Kitchen Helper Stool for Toddlers
The kitchen stool is one of those useful items that kids can use from the time they can walk until they’re tall enough to reach the countertops on their own. (I have a list of other great toddler gifts here!)
It’s open on two sides and has bars on two sides. I usually put the helper stool against a cabinet on one of the open sides. And then the kids can climb up or down on the fourth side. If you can’t find one of these that you like, you can also search for a “Montessori kitchen stool” or “Montessori helper stool,” which is another name for them.
Ours is a foldable stool. So I store it at the end of our kitchen island out of the way. The kids absolutely love using it, so it needs to be within reach! You can see it folded up in this Instagram post:
There are kitchen stools available from a few companies, including on Etsy. Here are some other options I found (ours is the first one pictured):
