I was rereading some of our monthly updates, and I cannot believe how much she has grown in the past 11 months. (Also, how has it been 11 months??) My new niece is around the same size my daughter was, and it’s hard for me to believe that I had such a tiny baby not too long ago.
Those first few months were a little rough, even though I sound chipper in the posts! The 2-4pm time period was rough on us during my maternity leave. I remember just looking at the clock and counting down the time until T came home from work, hoping that I would be able to find something to help my baby and her screaming in the meantime.
Our baby has always been tall and thin, so her food intake became a central topic of conversation at home. Aside from the fussy afternoons we experienced at the beginning, this became a fairly large issue for us. Our lives felt centered around food: Is she eating enough, how long ago did she eat, how much did she spit up, should we try to get her to eat again sooner… At around two months, her pediatrician recommended we start adding formula into her bottles to up the calorie count she was taking in. So Baby continued on her breastmilk diet, but we started to add in formula, too.
We eventually switched to Enfamil NeuroPro™ Gentlease®, which I learned is the #1 Pediatrician recommended brand for gassy and fussy babies. You could definitely consider the 2-4pm period in our home to have been “fussy”! As a new mom, I felt like there were a lot of expectations that I should have been able to fix whatever was bothering her myself without the help of outside resources. But T and I had a long conversation about it, and I realized that I WAS doing what I should be doing… I was doing what I could to keep my daughter healthy and happy. Regardless of her diet being 100% breastmilk or supplemented with formula, she is being fed, she is growing, and she is developing and hitting milestones.
I felt good about giving my daughter something that is made to be gentle on tiny tummies, knowing how hard some days could be. (NeuroPro Gentlease® has small, gentle proteins that are easy-to-digest.) It can be so difficult to figure out what your baby needs in those first few months, but we are so lucky to have so much research and information at our fingertips! Did you know that Gentlease offers complete nutrition for babies through 12 months, such as vitamins & minerals for immune support? Enfamil NeuroPro™ Gentlease® has an MFGM and DHA blend for brain-building benefits similar to breast milk.* MFGM has been clinically shown to help close the cognitive development gap between formula-fed and breastfed babies.**
If you want to try NeuroPro Gentlease® for your own baby, you can visit Enfamil’s site and sign up for coupons and free samples, or call 1-800-BABY-123 for more information and to request a free sample.
