An Ulta store opened recently near me, and I’ve been really impressed with the store. They have a really good rewards program, and they carry top brands. Everyone I have met who works there has been super helpful, too. I normally shop for beauty stuff at Sephora or tbh Target, but I’ve started going to Ulta and really like it. Today I’m sharing my 6 tips for saving money on beauty products at Ulta! If you’re interested in finding out some of the lesser known ways to save money shopping at Ulta, read on…
Ulta Rewards Program
When you sign up for the rewards program, you earn 1 point for every $1 you spend. If you’re a Platinum member, you earn 1.25 points for every $1 you spend, and Diamond members earn 1.5 points for every $1 you spend. For your birthday, you earn double points during the entire month! And you get a free gift. It’s totally free to join the Ulta rewards program (called Ultamate).
Watch for point multipliers! Currently my account is offering 5x points for stuff like beauty services. In some Ulta locations (but not Ulta at Target unfortunately) you can get a blow out, lash extensions, waxing, and more!
Ulta Coupons
Ulta only accepts one Ulta coupon per purchase, but you can usually find a coupon available! They have a page on their site that has a $10 off $40 or $3.50 off $15 coupon. You’ll also find promotions online on the homepage. Just go to the homepage and look at the bar right under the Ulta logo for any new promo codes.
Head to the product you’re interested in, and you might see a random promotion for that item. For example, I was buying another Tula moisturizer and then noticed I could get 10% off if I picked up my order at the store! It’s in red under the price >
Ulta Deals
The other day I was walking around the store and noticed a “mini 2 for 1” promotion. Everything travel sized was buy one, get one free! Perfect timing, because we were heading out on a family trip the following week. I got my favorite Tula moisturizer in a travel size, and then I didn’t have to bring the much larger bottle. (If you haven’t tried Tula products yet, here are a few of my favorites: Tula eye balm beauty sticks (review post) – shop them at Ulta, Tula moisturizer)
21 Days of Beauty
Shop the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty promotion period, when top brands like Tarte are 50% off. And it’s not just clearance products either- top sellers like Shape Tape might be on sale as one of the promotions. This year I got my favorite moisturizer for 50% off, which was a huge steal! 21 Days of Beauty happens a couple of times a year.
Free Gifts with Purchases
Once you buy a certain amount from specific brands, you get free gifts with your purchases. Usually these are advertised around the store, but you can also check current promotions on the Free Gift with Purchase page.
Ulta’s Forgiving Return Policy
Since it’s hard to really try all makeup in a store before purchasing, Ulta has a really forgiving return policy. Within 60 days you can return any item with a receipt (or by looking it up using your rewards member number). Just note: If you’ve used more than 40% of the product, you might not get your whole refund.
