I will be the first to admit that I like really nice things, but I don’t always want to pay full price. Okay fine I rarely ever want to pay full price. So when I started seeing Italic in Instagram ads, I thought can it be that good? I was getting ads for Italic for a while before I ever visited the site. Then I probably clicked over to the site 4 or 5 times before actually purchasing anything.
I ordered two items in my first order: a sheet set and 2 photo frames (the ones I ordered are currently out of stock). Here’s my unfiltered review of what I received compared to how Italic describes them.
First up…
Italic bed sheets:
They say: Same manufacturer as Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton. Comparable to Boll & Branch and LL Bean. 100% long-staple combed cotton percale.
My thoughts:
YEARS ago I purchased an expensive set of sheets I found on Overstock for a good deal. They were cool and soft, and silky too. After those wore out I hunted for something similar but really didn’t want to spend the $200+ I saw for prices. ENTER ITALIC.
That’s dramatic but these sheets feel SO nice. At the $85 price tag, I wouldn’t call them “affordable.” But if you’re used to buying Boll & Branch or Frette, then the $85 won’t bother you in the least. They were a little stiff when they first came in but after a couple of washes they softened up to a really nice feel. I love the navy border on them and am crossing my fingers that they come out with a scallop set (like these Serena and Lily scallop sheets) soon.
Italic photo frames:
They say: Italic compares them to Pottery Barn ($99) and Williams Sonoma ($90).
My thoughts:
I ordered 2 of the 5×7 frames in silver. The Italic price is just $20 for the 5×7 and $15 for the 4×6. The $15-20 price tag is about what you would pay at Target for a picture frame of the same size.
Let me start out by saying that these frames look SO much more expensive than the $20 I paid for them. They’d be a great gift for a friend who just got engaged or married, or had a new baby. I had an issue with one frame and couldn’t get the back off of it, but I sent in an email and they replaced it immediately.
Is Italic a legit site?
Yes. You do have to factor in the shipping time, since everything takes a few more days than it would from a store, but I was impressed with the items I ordered. Everything was packaged well. The frames arrived in quite a bit of cushioning so they wouldn’t break en route.
How much is a membership to Italic?
I didn’t have to pay for a membership in order to buy the sheets and picture frames from Italic. They do have something called Italic Bold, which costs $60. With that $60 purchase you get $120 in Italic credits ($30 to use immediately and $90 later), so if you plan on ordering more than once it’s probably worth doing. You can also earn credits by writing reviews ($5 per review), referring friends ($15 for every referral, Bold members get $30 for every referral).
How long does it take Italic to ship?
They say to allow for 1-2 weeks for processing and shipping time, and I think my order arrived right at the 2 week mark from the day I ordered it.
Is Italic available in Canada?
Not right now. It looks like they’re only able to ship to the US, with the exception of Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and PO Boxes
What am I buying next from Italic? I’m going to try these sunglasses, this suitcase, and this backpack! If you have any categories you’re curious about and want me to review first, let me know in the comments!
