Do you have a passion project? You know, one of those things you do not for the money or because you have to but because you really, truly care about what you’re doing.
I have a couple of passion projects, one of which is animal rescue. I hadn’t heard much about rescue until I started searching for a dog of my own and realized how many dogs end up in shelters through no fault of their own.
We got Sprout from a Texas shelter about five years ago. You know those bumper stickers you see all the time that ask, “Who rescued who?” – (I know, I know, it should be “whom,” but I didn’t make them) – yeah, that’s us. This little guy has made me a better person – from attending volunteer events (Sprout is a registered therapy dog because he’s just that smart) to something as small as stopping to talk to the neighbors.
I’ve been involved with a local rescue for a few years, which started with a simple food drive at work and grew into much more. Last year we fostered a dog until she found the perfect home, and now I help the rescue in a more administrative capacity. (For the record, Sprout hated having a foster to share the attention – and the treats.)
On a recent shopping trip, I grabbed some PEDIGREE® DENTASTIX® for Sprout alongside a 55lb bag of adult dog food to donate to our local rescue. I have a stack of older towels I need to bring over, and the price was right, so into the cart it went!
I was thrilled to hear that for every purchase of one of their products at Sam’s Club for the month of October, PEDIGREE® will donate a bowl of food to a shelter dog. Even if you don’t have a Sam’s Club near you, you can help a shelter dog in need. Upload a photo of your own spoiled dog to Instagram or Twitter and use the hashtag #LaterShelter and PEDIGREE® will donate a bowl of food for every upload. Your photo may even be featured on SamsClub.com.
Now I want to know, what’s your passion project? Tell me in the comments!

I volunteer at our local food bank and library, they're both things I deeply believe in; helping other with food scarcity, and giving everyone the access to books 🙂

I love supporting the local schools in their quest for music education. I have two shelter pets of my own 🙂 #client
