Cleaning Makeup Brushes

Question:  What do you use every day that you don’t clean nearly enough? If you said makeup brushes, you’re right. A while ago I read some gross stats about germs in bathrooms (where I store my brushes), and since then I’ve vowed to clean my brushes regularly.

how to clean makeup brushes, cleaning makeup brushes

I use two products to clean my brushes:  a gentle soap and Sephora’s purifying brush shampoo.

First, I put some gentle soap liquid soap into a bowl, fill it with water, and soak my brushes for a couple of minutes.

Gross, right? For someone with sensitive skin, it’s really important to keep my brushes as clean as my face.

Rinse each brush and then shampoo each (gently) with a couple of pumps of the brush shampoo.

Rinse each and reshape before lying flat on a towel.

After a couple of hours, brush each against your hand to fan the brush out a little bit so it can get drier on the inside of the bristles.
It’s best to clean your brushes at night, or when you know you won’t need them for a few hours, so you can let them dry thoroughly.
