We took a little vacation to the west coast and the weather was just incredible! Most days were high 60s, but we even got a few that were in the mid-upper 70s! Summer temps, I’m ready for you. (LOL because as I type this it’s snowing in Boston)

I can’t wait to share our Monterey and Carmel travel guide, because we had theĀ best time. (Okay, the great weather might have had something to do with it, too!) But see that hair? The wind was something fierce this day when we walked from the Monterey Bay Aquarium over to Lovers Point. It was such a nice walk, but breezy to say the least!
For this trip I wanted to pack simple basics because I knew we would be doing a lot of walking (or driving, depending on the day) and I needed to pack myself and E into one suitcase. Let’s just say that I’ve never been known to pack lightly, so having to then pack my baby in the same suitcase meant there was that much less room for the clothes I would have brought! I’m one of those people who packs a full suitcase and then runs around the morning of the trip, stuffing more items in the bag. I’ll then get to my destination with 11 tanks and 4 pairs of jeans more than I actually need.
I loved my outfit this day – simple, New England-y, easy. You’ll have to excuse the lack of jewelry, but I have a 6 month old who grabs at everything these days. When we’re out and about, that means earrings and necklaces are out unless it’s a special occasion. I did add my new belt that I love. It fits well and makes me look a lot more put together than I feel some days! Unfortunately, you can’t see it in these photos. I got it in the nutmeg color.
This open-front cardigan is one of my favorite items in my closet, and I wear it once a week. It’s cozy, and it’s heavier than it looks, so it’s warm. (It’s sold out for the season, but hopefully it will be back next fall again! It came back again this year after it was super popular last year. But in the meantime, here’s the summer version I just ordered!)
I’ll also be sharing a post about what we brought on the trip for our first flight with a baby, but a few of my must-haves: our car seat, stroller caddy, and this car seat cover! I threw it in the bag at the last minute, and I’m so glad I did. We ended up using it every other day or so because the sun was so bright.
If you have any questions about the Monterey/Carmel area, please let me know before I write that travel guide and I will try to answer them!
