I have a confession: I’ve never been an efficient packer. I’m one of those people who grabs things as they’re walking out of the house and shoves those (mostly unnecessary) items into whatever free space is left. That meant that when we went to the west coast for 2.5 weeks last Fall, we ended up mailing ourselves boxes because our suitcases got too heavy.
But recently I found packing cubes, and they are the best thing for a packer like me.
I actually bought two sets so I would have 2 of the large cubes, which are perfect for tops and bottoms. Depending on the vacation, I’ll use the small for swimsuits and the medium for underthings, or maybe a large for swimsuits (like when we went to Turks & Caicos and I knew I would be in a swimsuit 90% of the time).
Plus, using these cubes dissuades me from shoving extra items in my bag. There’s something about seeing the inside of your suitcase neatly stacked that makes you not want to do that!
I bought my packing cubes on Amazon – they have a few different kinds, as well as different colors if you are like me and have to have the same color for everything (suitcase, packing cubes, Ray-Bans… #AllBlueEverything.).
Do you have any packing tips? I’d love to hear them!
