7 Cute Ways to Display Christmas Cards

If you get a beautiful stack of Christmas cards (or holiday cards) each year, how do you display them? I’ve tried a few different ways – and came across some other great ideas – for displaying Christmas cards in your home. The best part? Creating a display of holiday cards doubles as extra decor!

7 Cute Ways to Display Christmas Cards

1. DIY Wall “Tree” Card Display

If you have a blank wall somewhere in your home – regardless of how big or small it is! – this is a cute DIY way to display your cards. The best part is that the kids can help put this together and add cards as they come in the mail.

You’ll need:

  • craft clothespins (mini size)
  • twine or ribbon (or even a strand of twinkle lights!)
  • double-sided tape (always test somewhere on a wall before putting a ton of tape/adhesive on your walls, especially if they were recently painted!)
  • Command hooks (small size)
  • card stock (or construction paper)
  • mini ornaments

Zig zag your ribbon or twine on the wall, making your “tree” as wide or narrow and as tall or short as you want. Attach in the corners with small Command hooks. Add your star (made from construction paper or card stock) with double sided tape. Add mini ornaments wherever you think they look best. Attach the clothespins to your ribbon and as cards arrive, clip them on for a festive look.

2. Christmas card flip book

I love this idea for cards that you’ll flip through during the season, keeping them on the coffee table. A blogger I follow shared that she actually has family card flip books for each of her kids. She has them in their keepsake boxes and each year adds their family Christmas card to the ring. Such a great way to store your personal cards that you want to show your kids later! For these you pretty much only need a hole puncher and metal rings.

I love this idea for how to save your wedding cards or baby shower cards too!

3. Hanging bar card holder

I think this Christmas card display is so beautiful and can be made in a few different ways! For a coastal home, you could use a piece of driftwood as the hanging bar. For a more modern home, use a straight dowel. The sky’s the limit when it comes to these DIYs!

And if you want a done-for-you option, this hanging bar/tree display is a cute way to display your cards without having to DIY anything!

4. Twinkle lights card display

Super easy to set up and looks even better at night! You can do this two ways: Using twinkle lights and mini clothespins, or using a twinkle light photo clip strand.

5. Ribbon “Merry Christmas” sign card holder

An easy and festive way to display your Christmas cards! This sign is available on Etsy (pictured here), or you could create a DIY.

6. Christmas card box

For a no-fuss designated Christmas card spot, get a Christmas box from Etsy (pictured here) and keep all of your cards in there! Keep the box on the coffee table or a console table where you can go through the cards and enjoy the smiling faces.

7. How I display Christmas cards in our home – the Christmas card garland

I wish I had a picture of this, but I’ll take one and update the post later! I hang a long garland within one of our doorways and use craft clothespins to attach cards as they come in. It’s a fun (and festive!) way to see the cards during the season, as they aren’t stacked away in a drawer somewhere. I use mini clothespins to attach cards to the garland as they arrive in the mail.
