Summer Bucket List

Now that we’ve had a few nice days in a row, I’m antsy to start the summer. By that, I mean pool parties, patio lunches, and wearing dresses everyday! I love being able to get my kids outdoors every day, whether it’s to meet up with friends at a playground or go on a grand adventure in our closest city.

2017 Summer Bucket List

I’ve always loved seeing what is on other people’s bucket lists for different seasons, so today I’m sharing my own summertime list!

(Sidenote: I don’t know if it’s correct to call it a summer bucket list, since “bucket list” implies that it’s something you do before you die. But maybe it’s okay because the summer only lasts so long? Thoughts?)

  1. Go to the movies by myself – something I’ve never done!
  2. Get the kids’ rooms figured out. We’re building a new house and I haven’t yet tackled their bedrooms in terms of paint, who is going where, etc. So yes the baby’s nursery but also the big kids’ rooms too.
  3. Home projects! Specifically: figure out the tile, paint colors, lighting… all of the things. We also have home projects in our current home, repainting certain rooms and starting to pack some stuff we won’t need before the big move in the fall.
  4. Picnic in a park (no ants invited)
  5. Host an outdoor movie night at home
  6. Shop at a local farmer’s market and get those small strawberries that taste so much better than the ones in the grocery store!
  7. Spend a day in Boston like a tourist

What’s on your summer bucket list this year? Here are some ideas to jump start your list!

Fun summer activities with toddlers

  • Water obstacle course: Set up your favorite outdoor toys and make an obstacle course for the little ones
  • “Paint” a fence (all you need is water and brushes!)
  • Outdoor movie night with a projection screen
  • Plant a garden and spend the summer pruning it and watching it grow (bonus if you’re growing vegetables and the kids get to pick them!)
  • Picnic in the park or just the backyard
  • Gather your friends and do a little bike parade through the neighborhood
  • Make your own ice cream! A great activity for a rainy summer day

    My summer bucket list:
    1) Kayak in the creek
    2) Golf (Assuming I like it when I finish my lessons)
    3) Spend time in downtown Portsmouth (NH) walking
    4) Spend more time in my pool
    5) Eat outside on our deck
    6) Paint the front door, basement door and support poles a sunny yellow
    7) Do a weekend in Boston. A couple of years ago, we won a night at the Liberty in Boston and had an amazing two days playing tourist.

I’ve always wanted to take golf lessons! Those all sound awesome. Sunny yellow sounds perfect!
