Home Updates Wish List

T and I keep going back and forth about our house:  Do we do renovations (that could cost more than they would be worth) or move in the near future? It’s something we’ve been wrestling with for a few months. We really like our house. The location is perfect, it’s the right size for us, and it’s cozy. There are, however, some things we want to change, and we know it’s not big enough for the size of a family we want to have. Here are my main wish list items, alongside some gorgeous pictures of rooms that are definitely Pinterest-worthy.

A true entryway. Living in New England, it’s pretty important to have a place to put your boots (and hat and gloves and parka…) when you come in the door. I love this entryway’s simplicity, with its hooks in the hallway and cheery bright light.

A Pinterest-worthy dining room. When we host holidays, it makes seating very close together because our dining room isn’t huge. It’s big enough for a table and chairs, but not much else. I’ve been dreaming about built-ins and a china hutch, but that’s not going to happen in this room.

A more open floor plan. We have an open-layout kitchen/living room combo, but when we have a bunch of friends over, it’s hard to entertain without spilling into the kitchen. If you’ve tried to have a party with 15 people standing in your kitchen, you’ll know why this is an issue. I like how cozy this room feels while still being open to the kitchen and other spaces in the house.

Natural light everywhere. The little sitting area in the sunshine in this room looks like a dreamy space to read a book. Natural light makes me so happy!

And what girl doesn’t want a gorgeous place where she can get ready for the day?

Omg, that closet though. That would be on the top of my list 😉
